Spain has unveiled two new funding programs totaling \u20ac405 million to accelerate its energy transition and strengthen domestic clean-technology manufacturing. Managed by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition (MITECO) and IDAE, the initiatives aim to replace fossil fuels with renewable energy while positioning Spain as a competitive hub in Europe\u2019s clean-tech value chain. The first program, RENOCogen, allocates \u20ac50 million to renewable cogeneration and waste-treatment projects, supporting technologies such as biogas, biomass, solar, wind, geothermal, and hydropower with storage.<\/p>\n
The second and larger call, worth \u20ac355 million, focuses on scaling up clean-tech manufacturing in Spain, targeting components such as solar panels, wind turbines, batteries, electrolysers, and heat pumps. Grants will cover up to 35% of eligible costs, with higher caps for projects located in designated assisted regions. Additional incentives are provided for small and medium-sized enterprises and for investments in areas undergoing economic or demographic transition.<\/p>\n
Officials emphasized that the schemes are designed not only to cut emissions but also to enhance Spain\u2019s strategic autonomy and industrial competitiveness amid growing global demand for clean-energy technologies. The funding follows strong momentum in Spain\u2019s renewable sector, which added nearly 9GW of new capacity in 2025, mainly from solar and wind power.<\/p>\n
