A recent study conducted by researchers McCarthy, Chisambi, and Banda, published in Discover Agriculture, found that elephant dung is a nutrient-rich organic fertilizer suitable for Malawi agriculture. The analysis revealed that elephant excrement contains significant levels of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, essential nutrients for healthy crop growth. The study also noted its positive effects on soil quality and plant productivity, suggesting that elephant dung could serve as a sustainable, cost-effective alternative to synthetic fertilizers. Further research is being conducted to understand its long-term impact on soil health and crop yields.
